What Are Custom Instructions?
Custom instructions let you:

How to Use Custom Instructions
Access the Custom Instructions Panel
Navigate to the top left of your screen to the 'Your Context' section.
Click on Customize
A new pane will open
Provide Information About Yourself
In the first text box labeled “Tell the assistant about yourself,” describe your role, organization, and any specific details relevant to the way you’ll use GovAI.
Note that you can have the system auto-generate instructions for you by clicking on Generate
Example:
I work for the City of Kitchener in the Planning Department. I specialize in housing development and approvals, and work closely with the GIS team.
Define How the Assistant Should Respond
In the second text box labeled “How would you like the assistant to respond?”, specify your preferred tone, level of detail, and any other preferences.
Example:
Be concise and to the point, for technical questions provide technical responses, when it comes to help with writing tasks I would like a professional tone free of jargon
Save Your Settings
After filling in the fields, click Save to apply your custom instructions.
GovAI will now adjust its responses to align with the inputs you’ve provided.
