Filling a position at an organization can be a very time consuming process, and while GovAI isn't able to run the entire process it can certainly help in reducing the workload associated with hiring. Let's explore ways that GovAI can help you with your next hire.

Initial Preparation:

Before starting the process of crafting a job description, you may need to research qualifications and skill sets related to the open position. For instance, are there new certifications associated with the role? What are some core skills and nice-to-haves for a person filling the role? For this reason, we recommend using GovAI as your first stop as you prepare to post the job description. You may want to start with these sample prompts (illustrated using the example of a Financial Analyst role):

  • What are some must have and nice to have certifications associated with a Financial Analyst in Public Sector

  • What qualitative attributes make an ideal a Financial Analyst candidate [tip: you can include additional information here such as "... who will be reporting to the Director of Finance and Revenue"]

  • How does experience in private sector compare to public sector for a Financial Analyst

Job Description:

Using the information from the first stage, you can now ask GovAI to craft a job description for the role. We recommend providing as detailed a prompt as possible to GovAI for this task. Here's an example

  • Write a job description for a Financial Analyst role who will be reporting to the Director of Finance and Revenue. Highlight the importance of public sector experience, and create a section for Required Skills that includes understanding of local tax laws and financial modelling.

Upon generating the job description, you can ask GovAI for any adjustments needed. It can be as simple as "remove the Education section and combine it with the Required Skills section"

Interview Questions:

You can also ask GovAI to create interview questions for the role. Here also, it helps to be specific in the kind of questions you would like generated. For example:

  • Generate 5 situational questions for a Financial Analyst role, 2 involving balancing priorities, and 3 about working on multidisciplinary teams within a public sector environment

  • Provide 3 technical question for a Financial Analyst given our regional context

  • Give me 2 potential ice breaker topics to make a candidate comfortable during an interview

Interviewer Rubrics:

With the interview questions established, you can ask GovAI to provide you with rubrics to be used by interviewers. For example:

  • Provide me with an example rubric to be used for scoring candidates interviewing for a Financial Analyst role. The scores should range from 0-5, with 0 being the lowest score. Also include instructions for the interview panel explaining how the scores line up with the rubric.

The above examples illustrate the flexibility and capabilities of GovAI in a typical hiring process. You can use any of the prompts independently or string them together in one 'conversation' with GovAI. Keep in mind that when you string together prompts (from job description to interview questions and so on), GovAI will develop a better understanding of the task you're trying to complete, providing more contextual responses.
